I came onto The Conduit project about halfway through it’s development. It was exciting for me, as it was my first big console game and I was coming off of Dora.
There were some impressive elements of the game for sure, but also some design decisions I felt stuck with as a junior designer on a game that was halfway done.
Fortunately for me, I was tasked with spearheading the multiplayer component of the game, that was just decided to be added. We had a very limited budget and timeline for the feature, as it was not originally planned on.
I took a lot of inspiration from earlier successful console shooters like Halo and Goldeneye. I strove to design simple, easy to navigate levels and a variety of game types and rule options.
